Imagine a street from the old days. A Street in the south of Teheran, with its cinemas, theatres and cabarets. A Street full of life, parties and friendliness.  A Street such as this no longer exists. Since the revolution, instead of parties, art and entertainment, shops and business have moved in. Almost everything has disappeared and changed. All except for two theatres one of which is the Theatre Nasr.  This is where the improvising actors of Siah Bâzi perform and have been called in their own country “ The workmen of joy”. But two years ago, from one day to the next, the government closed this theatre and “ The workmen of joy” found themselves homeless and in the streets.  Mayam Khakipour’s film tells of how this theatre came to an end. Witnessing the killing of the Iranian commedia dell’arte we think. The show brings together actors and musicians and tells of their comic adventures as they emigrate to Japan after the theatre has closed…Once there, they are robbed of their last illusions…there is only one solution left: Siah Bâzi’s theatrical company does what it knows how to do the best: improvise, act provoke laughs and emotions.
