Josse De Pauw / Jan Kuijken / George Van Dam / David Van Reybrouck
Theatre / Belgique
Actor, film and stage director, Josse De Paw dreamed of creating a musical theatre performance around the composers and musicians Jan Kuijken (cellist) and George Van Dam (violinist). One day, when listening to the story of Maeterlinck and his book Life of termites, the story of a plagiarism, he knew finally that he had found his idea. The performance starts like a conference and then transforms into a Shakespearian nightmare, which becomes an existential quest of a poetic nature.
“ … What is extraordinary about this performance is its capacity to give shape through its structure and music to scientist who is searching and trying to create and breed order from chaos… Josse De Pauw is a fabulous actor who draws you into his diabolically intelligent but equally warm and generous performance.” Pol Arias, VTR, Radio1
“The show reaches summits of beauty just when the form- a mess, the samples, and the beep-beep- must give way to the intense meaning of the story. Because it is when man sees his image reflected in the great pond called nature that he his the most fragile. De Pauw, close to his public, with watery eyes, the mirror of the soul.” Liv Laveyne, De Morgen
